79 Days and Counting -- 1500+ Miles for Multiple Sclerosis

Hi Y'all!

Yes, my business trip to Mississippi put a major crimp in my training. But I'm back at it!

Training Update
Distance Ridden Today: 20.2 miles, outside
Calories Yesterday: 1300
Weight: 214.8 pounds
Weight Lost: 3.2 pounds

It rained hard on me for half of my ride today, or I would have bumped it up to 25 miles. Tomorrow I'll be without a bike, but I'll be able to ride inside at the gym.

Have a great day!

87 days and counting -- 1500+ miles for Multiple Sclerosis

Hey Y'all!

Well, I'm in Mississippi, working with a client. I spent most of the day on an airplane. Yes, this trip is totally going to screw with my training. And no scale, so I won't be able to report on my weight until Friday, when I get back to town. So I'm going to eat really well and work out every day on the exercise bike here at the hotel. We'll see how it goes.

88 days and counting -- 1500+ miles for Multiple Sclerosis

Hi Y'all!

Today and tomorrow are pretty crappy for getting any riding done. Tomorrow afternoon I'm flying to Mississippi for a week to work with a client and there's all this stuff that has to get done before I go. I know, cry me a river! That's the way life goes, doesn't it?

I'll be in a hotel all week and will have to train on a stationary bike until I return. But don't worry, I'll do it! And next Sunday I'm going to do a 50-mile outside ride.

Have a great night!

89 days and counting -- 1500+ miles for Multiple Sclerosis

Hi Y'all!

Just got back from the day's ride. Here's the update:

Training Update
Distance Ridden Today: 20.1 miles, outside
Calories Yesterday: 2050
Weight: 216.2 pounds
Weight Lost: 1.8 pounds

Yes, yesterday was a bigger eating day than I would have liked -- mostly, that was because I had a candy bar and soda to stay awake on a long drive. Still, I've lost a little over the last two days. And I'll be better today.

Have an awesome Friday!

90 days and counting -- 1500+ miles for Multiple Sclerosis

Work and real life is taking me off of the trail today. I probably will not be able to ride at all today, but I'll let you know if I can make the time this evening.

I would like to point out that my good friend A.K. Linehart-Minnick, whose family owns SummerWinds Garden Centers (with several beautiful centers around the country) offered their help, since one of their stores on the route. I've already talked to the folks on the ground and we are figuring it out (most likely, I'll have my MS Awareness Event for St. Louis there). In the end, we may be able to work something out or we may not, but isn't it exciting that they want to help?

Hope you have a great day.

91 days and counting -- 1500+ miles for Multiple Sclerosis

Training Update
Distance Ridden Today: 20.2 miles, outside
Calories Yesterday: 1400
Weight: 216.6 pounds
Weight Lost: 1.4 pounds

The Missouri route is set and we are working out the day-to-day schedule.

For certain, we are going to start in St. Joseph now (north of Kansas City) with a party on the evening of Tuesday, September 4; then I'll jump on my bike and pedal on down to Kansas City the next morning. That will be a relatively short day, but we really need to have an event of some sort in Kansas City, where I have a lot of friends and associates.

Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee will host the event in St. Joseph, her hometown, so I'm pretty excited about that. Having her involved will help us raise money and gives the ride credibility.

Here's the full Missouri schedule:

Tuesday, September 4, evening -- MS Awareness Event in St. Joseph, MO
Wednesday, September 5, evening -- MS Awareness Event in Kansas City, MO
Friday, September 7, evening -- MS Awareness Event in Columbia, MO
Sunday, September 9, afternoon -- MS Areness Event in St. Louis, MO

I'll supply details as they are set. Have a great Wednesday!

92 days and counting -- 1500+ miles for Multiple Sclerosis

Hi Y'all!

I'm back to blogging and won't let up until the end of my trip. Yes, the trip is very much going to happen. I rescheduled it once -- from April to September -- and I am WELL AWARE that if I reschedule it again, no one will believe I'll do it. In fact, as a procrastinator from way back, I realize that if I reschedule again, I probably WON'T do it.

So hear I am. I'll continue to share my thoughts and interesting developments as they happen. I'm also going to start including a daily training update (one that could be embarassing if I don't progress the way I want to. We'll just all see, together.

Today's training update:
Distance cycled: 20 miles, outside
Weight: 218.0 pounds

Twenty miles has become my daily usual, and I can do it without a ton of effort. I think I'll bump that up to 25 miles per day on July 1 and 30 miles per day on July 15. I'm not worried about the distance, but the time is a pretty big factor (I typically do it very early in the morning).

My weight is down 12 pounds, but I have just recently stopped eating like a freak who has never seen a chocolate bar before. So watch for significant loss in the coming months.

Have an awesome Tuesday!
