My route

I really need to get serious about figuring out my route. I've contacted someone with the federal pedestrian/cycling program and it turns out that each state has its own bicycling coordinator. I'm starting with the one from Missouri and we'll see if she can help me figure out the best way to get from Kansas City to New York City with as little possibility of mishap as possible.

Any suggestions?
